Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On the 21st of October, 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she gained her first the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded songs online in the year 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued posting her songs online, including her self-released single Bound. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs to the Dreamville Team in the following year as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. She officially was signed by Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is a track that she recorded together with Cozz for the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 2016, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017 and also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed released, followed by a music video September. In November, she dropped two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two singles more were released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. She then appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album of the same title. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within the first week, it had over 3 million views. She was part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
